A Long Stay
The birthday card shows a mammoth tree root, dry and sun bleached. Why was this chosen for my 60th birthday? Could it be because of the resemblance? I, too, have been uprooted—more than twenty times. I could never grow such powerful, spreading roots. Perhaps it is a hint to finally grow roots here.
