There was fury on the internet last year. Death and migrants? Despots, refugees? No, a woman had spoken about spreading butter with a spoon. People were outraged. Some were sarcastic and others were confused. There were discussions and arguments, widespread criticism and even YouTube explanations for those who doubted it could be done.

A forest burns, homes lie in ruins, a teddy bear is washed ashore, all taken with a shrug. But an unusual method of spreading butter divides opinion and sets the net ablaze.
