Haibun Today Archives Preserved by The Haiku Foundation

Jeffrey Woodward founded Haibun Today in 2007, envisioning it as “an ongoing and open critical forum as well as an evolving anthology of the genre” (as he noted in his first editorial). A blog for the first two years of its existence before becoming a quarterly webzine from 2010 to 2019, it was among the seminal publications that enabled English-language haibun and tanka prose to grow and develop. It published not only some of the best haibun and tanka prose of the period, but also assembled a wealth of educational resources—essays, commentaries, interviews, and reviews.

The Haibun Today archives have now been moved to The Haiku Foundation website. They will exist as a subdomain, preserving the journal’s legacy for future generations of readers and researchers alike. Ray Rasmussen, cho‘s contributing editor who formerly served as the managing editor of Haibun Today, has transferred all the files and is currently performing “clean up” (i.e., identifying and fixing any missing or inactive links).
