Flyweights

It started on their honeymoon. Some argument over moussaka. One minute they were sloshing back retsina, the next they were shadow boxing on the beach. Some locals tried to break it up. Thought they were serious. Eventually, the whole village would turn up, fresh from work.

Nowadays, their cabin is quiet most nights. Sure, there may be the odd flicker of a lamp, a light rumble, a little bit of rough and tumble. But when dawn breaks you’ll find them wading in the river, rods in hand, their faces wide and flushed.
