In the attic, she hands a baptismal certificate to her sister. “Here is your ticket to heaven. I can’t find mine.” Their mother is long gone so she’ll never know if she’s been saved. The stairway to heaven is daring her to let go. On top of a tattered box, a dusty Buddha smiles.
