See You Again
I spot him on a stoop under the flickering streetlight. He sports an Army windbreaker, shorts, and one worn-out sandal. His stubble grates across my cheek as we hug. I feel nothing but bones beneath his jacket. He fumbles another cigarette and tells me he missed me. Did my exams go well? Do I have $5 or something to eat…? He has to go, but, my brother always leaves me with a promise.
