With more than half of my life already spent, I understand better now the idea of a person who has come to accept and even welcome their inevitable death. What surprises me more than anything is my own acceptance and understanding of their death as well. That death does not have to be a robber or an injustice. So after weeks of decline, when the old man tells me he’s tired, I know what he means.
