The Weight of Water

soft and flexible,
yet it wears away stone . . .
an ocean
in my teardrops,
the healing of rain

Too much or too little? Across the globe, longer droughts and swifter floods, stronger storms, and bigger bills. The sea takes back a little more each year, reminding me that we, too, are mostly H2O. Who can describe its shape, or how it’s shaping us? And sadly, we forgot to bring a scale to weigh our part of the equation.

Above me a hawk circles. Predators can also be prey.

storm clouds
darken the horizon . . .
a desert wind
carries me beyond
the tipping point
