On a winter night our underwear catches on the laundry basket rim. Hers, lacy purple and nude; mine, the off-white of cotton only just beginning to rip. We are close beneath the covers. Skin-to-skin, butt-to-butt. Our books reduce to pages turning across the quiet.

My pen clicks, opening a door through the words.

Tyler McIntosh was born and raised where the mountains meet the valley just to the south of Jackson, Wyoming. He is an environmental scientist, adventurer, and writer now based out of Westminster, Colorado. His work has appeared in recent anthologies in addition to numerous print and online journals.
