In a dream
we spoke in a language of peace. Immediately all subterfuge and disinclination fell aside. No one doubted that everything said was meant in the most honorable and honest way possible, that what was hoped for was the best possible outcome for everyone involved, that should anything not work out this way every effort would be made to make it right, not with squabbling and acrimony, but happily., and together. I dreamed that good intentions were taken for granted, that equability was the order of the day, that truth was the only position offered, that love was the only commodity on the stock exchange, and it had no fiscal value. I dreamed this long into the night, until the streaming low slants of dawn roused me, and the cheer of birdcalls called me forth.
I woke up.
