Beltane

Old, oh yes, but…even now the full, lush fields thick with dandelion and violet carry me back into the time of wanting, of longing. Familiar dreams return, vivid as ever of lying down in the cool, high gilly grass to wait for Pan’s return.

wild sweet woodruff
strawberries red as sunrise
infused in white wine
your kisses and mine
taste of first harvest honey

On certain spring evenings turning over into night, under the willows, by the waterways, meadows, and woods, by starlight or soft rain, He waits for those who dream, who remember.

  1. Thank you, Adelaide love the Leonard Cohen quote about what his sensei told him – something like” the older you get and the lonelier you get, the deeper the love you need. “I have to agree fully. The world of nature and love – that’s it.

  2. Don’t you just love Leonard Cohen? The singers and song writers of the 60’s and 70’s had something to say, and they said it with a melody. What passes for pop music today leaves me covering my ears.

    • Oh yes. And he was …to me…all the better in his later performances.
And recently, Joni at Newport…I do like Brandi Carlisle very much.

  3. Mary, I absolutely love this as someone who is just in the beginning stages of delving into Celtic Mythology and Druidism. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for writing this and sharing it.
