Just as the doctor is about to announce the diagnosis, my eyes shift over to the ceiling.

Amongst the spot lights and the pattern of cracks there is a tiny red light and I know it can’t be a part of the smoke detector on the opposite end of the room and it doesn’t look like a motion sensor but what is it and why won’t it stop blinking?
