Capturing Light
Clearing the last things from the top of her wardrobe, I find a curled photograph. My father stares directly into the camera; my mother looks sideways at him. Her eyes and smile reveal an understanding of the fleeting honey of the moment.
They pool about us, these moments, sometimes only barely glimpsed. Moments to tame and hold, like the sunlight angling across her face.
This yellowed image stored in a box, to be found years later. The quiet communications of the dead told with the click of a camera; sweet seconds realised, and spliced together to shape a life.
