There was a time when clicking the top of a pen off, like so many things, was automatic. Now, with arthritic fingers, the simple task requires thought. Sometimes it takes more than one attempt, sometimes it ends with an embarrassing fumble. I had expected to decline with age but was surprised it started so soon. And I had expected a gradual fading, not this daily betrayal by everyday objects.
