a dream’s dream
i chase a roebuck through moonlight into a thicket. in the ancient language of poetry this means a secret is about to be revealed, and since it is revealed by the moon it can be trusted. it is a one-time secret, which can be glimpsed only once before it is burned.
the secret is that i am planning to leave you. this is something my waking self does not know. the muse is fickle but jealous, and it is like her to want to possess all of me, even if she has no further use for me. it’s simply the price for being allowed to continue my devotion.
the beauty of the muse is terrible to behold. The terror of the muse is beautiful to behold. it is my honor to be allowed.
in love. . . dusk comes on in its own sweet time
