Dropping Names

My friend tells me her father went on a tour of the Titanic in the Belfast shipyard when he was five. Well, one of my father’s bricklayers was Joe DiMaggio’s cousin and he went to Marilyn Monroe’s wedding. My brother-in-law went to Woodstock and my sister-in-law saw the Beatles perform in Detroit when she was sixteen. I am six when the Beatles first perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. For weeks after my father bops through the house singing, “Yeah, yeah, yeah…”

telegram from the King:
"tremendous success"
Harrison: "Elvis who?"

  1. Such a fabulous poem.
Always descriptive, opening a visual feast in the mind of the reader. These haibuns are delightful.
