One of the anthropology teachers in college used a cane. She didn’t need it for walking. She said it had gotten her through teaching in the 1960’s. When the “hippies” and “protesters” would try to take over the classroom she would beat them away.
“Hippies are ignorant,” she would say. “You can’t be ignorant and change the world. It takes an education.”
