Eyelids flick. Red, yellow, blue light streaks past. Speech is impossible. Time has no effect here. This journey is one way. No bed lift needed at my destination. People walk into the sterile room, talking. I can’t make out many words. One looks familiar. Prostrate on the mattress, I blink once more.
