What was it about the toe-tappin’ perky girl from the Golden Age of Hollywood film that would prompt my parents to saddle me with her name, a name that ranked fourth on the official list of popular baby labels that year, a name front-loaded with assumptions? As I slip the ring onto your finger, I wonder how many of us, years later, would come to sense a different calling, something along the lines of Ash or Avery, Taylor or Blair.
