Margaret Tau
The Reckoning
My dad loves fishing and fishes at every opportunity. Dad always comes home with stories of his time on the water. Early one morning, he was fishing out in the Atlantic when a heavy fog developed out of nowhere. He had no indication of his location as his boat drifted for hours. Rocking up and down on the ocean’s swells as the fog refused to let up he caught the faint scent of paint. Drifting some time longer, the enveloping fog took on a much darker hue, and the smell of paint became stronger. Suddenly, out of the abyss, a black wall appeared, so close that he could touch the tanker’s hull and push himself away.
