Beware of the dark pool where memory swims; the present a lure to tempt haunting recall of things never to return. There, among the shadows dappling the past, lurks the taste of tears.
Grotesque images, like bloated dead fish, float to the surface, or lodge in crevices of the murmuring throat, where the body’s soft, innermost cries are trapped.
Memory wallows; submerged in her grotto, eyes ever watchful, grim and vengeful, ready to voice her anger for being disturbed.

he skips a flat stone
into twilight
spanning the river
lost in his childhood
