Anna Cates
The Snare
"Prisons are built with stones of Law. Brothers with bricks of religion." — William Blake
a dimpled chin / a little sin . . .
he arrived on time / in hand a dime
entered the gate / not too late!
opened the door / longing for more
climbed spiral stairs / going somewhere?
raised the blinds / not too unkind
yet darkness fell / an unexpected spell
home again / a journey’s end
rabbit trap amid the mandrake stooped enchantress
