Andrew Riutta
A Mysterious Certainty
There’s a new book just released I wouldn’t mind checking out: The God Equation, by Michio Kaku, a pretty well-known Japanese physicist. I heard an interview with him over the radio in which he spoke of the book and offered his thoughts on the attempted reconciliation between Einstein’s relativity and quantum mechanics, which, it seems, are somewhat at odds with one another.
He spoke of strings, quarks, gravity, dark matter, the speed of light, black holes, wormholes and, of course, the big bang. Its wondrous implications. Inevitably, God does come up in a conversation such as that. It’s those times I wish I had an opportunity to snag the microphone so I could quote my old trucker friend from years back: “My heart once got all whacked out of shape by some girl whose name I never even learned. It was the best summer ever.”
