Gary Lee Joyner, Marjorie Buettner
Secret Storm
I found a kiss on the doorstep of my dark, able, and willing accomplice—who smelled of a newly formed field of frosted lilies, who dressed every day in yellow like Easter’s Daughter, whose mask couldn’t disguise reckless eyes. I dropped the kiss in a small box that already contained a light touch on a slim waist and a stroll on an evening of promise. I slipped the box into my pocket where it shuddered and trembled as if it held the great and terrible secret behind all kisses
April so they say is the cruelest month day in, day out the promise given blooms in the heart of the storm
