Theatre de Guignol

For decades, I have brought the character Guignol to life.  But as I age, I’m beginning to
wonder if I am him or he is me.  A hazard of the profession is that we marionettists
become our marionettes.  Retirement without my strings attached will be difficult.

peeking through a curtain
at amused children
of witty mothers
an aged performer
shedding tears
