Mending Fences

I gulp the gin & tonic in six sucks of a straw and chance a brain freeze. Happy hour. I’ll sip the other slowly. Pealing back a cloth napkin, I inhale the warm cheese biscuits that I’ll need later to soak up the gin like a time release capsule. Maybe it won’t be so bad after all. Shivering slightly and blaming it on the drink, I don’t want to admit I’m scared half to death.
