Beneath the forest’s mantle, by the sea’s lip, in the bathroom mirror – the leaves are fragrant, the water is wild, the mirror questions. 

Like myself, the forest hides its silences, the sea conceals its depths, the mirror reveals one view.

crossing the bridges
leading out of town
a withdrawing sun
paints roadside gums
charcoal in the twilight
