Reason to Dream

Laying on the couch counting slow rotations of a ceiling fan, my mind wanders down paths of the past. I think about two wishes wished when I threw two coins into Grandpa’s well twenty three years ago. Desperately needing some good luck, I wonder why I hadn’t thought of it before. I’ve never used those wishes.

 undivided attention
 thinking about tomorrow
to get through today
reaching for shadows
in my mind
