Maya

— the grand illusion

We are all sleepwalkers. Blind to reality, we need to be awakened so we can see life as is. The dust that covers our eyes . . . Is it just a thin film? Can one just blow it away? Or must we rise to Buddha’s height to wipe it off?

Seeing the saffron-coloured robe worn by yogis, Kabir says, ‘Hey, yogi, colour your mind first with love.’

spring cleaning
my entire house...
i cling
to each minute detail
of my fights and flights
                and when i begin
                to run in chaotic circles,
                unruffled
                the wall clock sticks
                to its rhythm
