Night Duties for Trees
To provide a touring bed for the moon. Catch minuscule star fragments on needles and leaves. Create a viewing perch for owls then soothe the insomniac songbirds to sleep. Except for the mockingbird, bless that singer with a perfectly-placed oak snag for a performance space. For the peeper symphonies, arrange a wide orchestra pit. Carve out dark hollows where fireflies blink as we sleep on our comfortable beds and dream of spiraling nebulae.
