On Me This Cross . . .

. . . rests. I remember it resting on you too. It is not so changed. Perhaps the golden feet are slightly rubbed; perhaps the fingers less defined. But still, he’s himself,  suffering beneath my shirt; a small weight resting on my skin.

roses in bunches
at the foot
of the trunk
