A Breach of Light

 I am

so many of the tricks of time that develop attached affections
tucked away in a locked heart
no one can look into without permission

the survivor

now remembering the past through senses walking barefoot in sandy dunes after a light rain  how it squished between toes the scent of sun through an open window echos of childhood laughter and voices in a midday breeze my first kiss sweet cherry blossoms gone now that five o’clock whistle of the train every week day just beyond the golding of a distant wheatfield ducks seasoning the last days of an indigo summer in holy silence a distant bolt of light splits darkness that moment we fell out of love…

 of my imaginings
the flight of seagulls     fanning their wings     from cloud to cloud
dissonant thoughts dissolve     into autumn rain
