Inclusions

Follow the river. Left at the yellow
bridge. Open the gate. Onto the
rocky road. Stop near a sand bar.
Wade in the river. Look through
the ripples. Rock hunt. River rocks.
Round rocks. Tumbled over time.
A rockhound. Sitting in the sand.
Teasing treasure to the surface.
Bruneau jasper. Star garnet. Agate.
What do you deem a treasure? The
river. Its ripple. The time. The star.
The bridge. The rock. The road.

         polished stones
         from the tumbler—
         burial ground

  1. Great poem! And love the Poet. I love poems in plain language. This poem is uncomplicated and relaxing. I could see the images, the smooth rocks, and it was just enough.
