Martin Duguay

The Boarder

For the past year, we’ve had an interesting relationship. You wait for me on the deck every morning under the comforting rays of the rising sun. I slide open the patio door and greet you, although I realize you won’t reply. But you are courteous and sit with decorum as I set down your breakfast. You remain immobile with your long tail wrapped around you until I close the door. When you feel like it, you lounge on the deck all day. Otherwise, you return before sunset for your dinner. I never thought I’d care so much about a stray cat, but I must admit that I look forward to your visits.
