Thinking

Yesterday I saw a doctor about my persistent cough.

Today I'm having a chest X-Ray, with a side order of regret.

I'm passing my time in the waiting room working out how many cigarettes I've smoked in my life. 300,000 cigarettes. 15,000 packs. Fortunately I gave up twenty years ago or the total would be beyond my capacity for mental arithmetic.

With that money I could have bought a really fast motorcycle. This thought sets my right leg throbbing – my last bike did not end well.

There will be time enough to worry about the cough when I get the results.
