Gesture

A stand of paper birches holds its own in the middle of a snow-crusted field in late February. Stone walls suggest edges to the properties of the shuttered cottages wrapped in silver shingles. All this is rendered in a few simple lines from a crow quill pen dipped into a half-filled bottle of India ink.
