Lynn Edge
Mother's Dress
She lies with wrinkled hands clasped around a beaded cross made by a childhood friend. A butterfly brooch sparkles on the shoulder of her white-collared navy dress. Her face, spectacles on, looks serene, more like herself than when I last saw her living. After the memorial, while looking through family photos, I realize Mother wore the same navy dress to my daughter's wedding.
