Orchid

A gift placed on the table by the wall. It flowers just once then fails to thrive. One lone limp leaf soon dumped down on the kitchen windowsill. A good place for a pot of earth and nothing more. But somehow someone waters it 'til one day...buds. First one then two then three small soft pink proofs of efflorescence opening outwards facing through the pane towards the sky.
