Tooth Archeology
Construction workers doing demolition work on the second floor of an old office building in Georgia broke open a wall and thousands of human teeth came tumbling out at their feet. The shocked workers discovered that in the early 1900’s, the building had been home to a dentist’s office. Not clear is the reason why a dentist would stash patients’ extracted teeth in a wall.
Archeologists searching for fossils know that teeth survive longer than any other part of a skeleton. Might teeth between wall studs have strengthened the building itself?
