Softening of the Bones

Bones that have carried me into this world,
bones dancing upon wildflowers,
bones that spread like kites
to bring forth life, and those
that close with a deliberate
and delicate touch,

You are what hold me up.
Hold me, now, in my surrender,
now that my dance has become a sway,
and lean me against a grandmother oak
knowing that I'm returning home.

passes through
