Fatherhood 101

There's nothing I like doing more than going for a walk in the woods with my daughter. One day, we come across a dead bird and she asks about it. It's my first time talking to her about death. I tell her it's sort of like a really long sleep. She persists, asking when it will wake up. "As far as I know, it won't," I tell her. We continue walking.

Heaven and hell. God. Religion. Philosophy. I prepare myself for the next question. "I've got this," I think to myself, noticing that she's deep in thought. I inquire if there's anything else she'd like to know. Then, after a moment of silence, she asks what we're having for lunch.
