Spring Break

We expose our flesh to the sun’s rays reflecting off the Pacific, off the white sand, coloring our white skin, usually more red than tan. We want to bronze our pale selves, to show others less fortunate than us that we have spent the week at the beach having a blast, sleeping five to a bedroom, flirting with the boys, staying up all hours, squabbling about missing clothes and missing food, about no more hot water, about getting sick on too much beer and cold pizza, while secretly wishing we had stayed home and not wasted the money.
