Different Rivers

looking back now at the end of another year with a glass of wine in my hand I think about all of the good friendships that I had from my youth and college years that now seem to have come and gone like the daily news and I can still hear the words of my father saying during those times if you can only keep just one and how I was so sure that each of them would have lasted like boulders in a storm

and as it turns out he was right on the difficulty of these ventures for it has not been like that and perhaps the only explanation could be is that our hearts were simply guided by different rivers

a calm winter night
my wife sings to our son
row row row your boat
