What tastes bitter

are your words in my mouth, when I become the other that I would rather not be, allowing minutes and hours and days to disappear as I chew, dry weeks, dark months, the sour flavor as I eat the granite and the vinegar of your opinions which I cannot swallow.

Lent lengthening
another friendship
riven
