Frivolous Relations


The first time I saw money lying on the street, I was eight years old. Debating the whole way, whether to pick it up, I found it had disappeared on my walk back.

The first time I picked up money lying on the street, I was twenty-one years old. I did it without hesitation, and spent it all drinking with a friend I owed money.

Yesterday, for the first time I lost money on the street. At the place where I most probably could have dropped it, I found a candy wrapper fluttering in the wind.
