Protest

Bolt says " It's a good day for a riot."
But the sweating sun we endure
Prefers to stay,
as do we.
It seemed so clear then, as we railed against the dishonesty.
At twilight time,
we packed away the placards,
memories that would remain of the protest
tangling around our laughing lips.

Resentment dawning
Safe on sunny street corners
Bloody Eastern sky
