Blackfoot Travois


curtis Edward Sheriff Curtis (February 16, 1868 – October 19, 1952) was an ethnologist and photographer of the American West and of Native American peoples. One of his aims was to document "the old time Indian, his dress, ceremonies, life and manners." His collection of photogravure plates portrays the traditional customs and lifeways of eighty Indian tribes encompassing the Great Plains, Great Basin, Plateau Region, Southwest, California, Pacific Northwest, and Alaska.
