A Daughter Different
As a young teen, she rises in the early hours to watch Princess Diana’s wedding. On a family vacation, she reads Emma all the way from our ranch in Texas to Colorado and back. It mystifies me my daughter finds Jane Austen so engrossing.
Shortly after marriage, she and her husband tour England. She comes home with stories of thatched-roofed cottages, cobblestone streets, and scones with strawberry jam.
This year we celebrate Christmas at their home. When I turn into the driveway of her Tudor style house, for the first time I realize she has fulfilled her youthful dream.
