In the first blush of middle age, I went looking for the limits of knowledge. Critical Rationalism, Pragmatism, Justificationism, Deconstructivism – the books piled up by my chair. Before long, living life left me less and less time for pondering it. The books migrated to the bathroom, competing for attention with a stack of New Yorkers and a book of Times crossword puzzles.
