Untitled

this morning out on the big hill behind the house the fresh pine needles in the dry flower bed appear to have been disheveled by the summer wind until a large black snake surfaces out of the cool ground like an evil act from a dark past only to enjoy the sunlight
for a moment before gently wrapping itself around a yellow-green juniper bush and then heading back underground to carry out its life in secret

another sunny day
and still what do I know
about the shadows
